virtual trial holes
Digital trial holes are a hugely valuable asset to the route proving and feasibility process. We perform hundreds of these annually for various applications.
We perform a utility survey with a combination of electromagnetic and radar technology in conjunction with the utility plans that are obtained either by Select or our clients. Once the plant is accurately located on site, including depth readings where possible, we then sketch the information and transfer to a CAD format with a top view, cross section and photograph of the location.
We can perform a number of these in a day, which provide a financially viable and environmentally friendly alternative to the physical, intrusive traditional trial hole scenario.
Obviously ground conditions cannot be established so we often recommend that one physical trial hole be taken to ten virtual to confirm our findings and assess the ground conditions. This said, many clients do not perform physical trial holes at all with the accuracy of the service we provide.
