Retrieval of statutory undertakers' plans
Select can collate and present utility plans from statutory
undertakers alerting our clients of any plant that may affect
their planned route. We are also able to supply plans, in
certain areas, in the form of an accelerated plant enquiry,
which satisfies the HSE requirements. This is used extensively
in London, by many of our clients. Dependent on quantity,
size and number of sites, we are able to respond in hours
if an emergency should occur, otherwise our standard turnaround
for HSE required stats is seven days.
2/
Preparation of safe dig packs
Many of our clients, with larger routes to construct, opt
for our safe dig packs for 'on site use'. This system, originally
developed by Select many years ago, offers an A3 or A4 format
of drawings in a binder that is more versatile and practical
to supply to gangs. The presentation of information in this
format has been used for many projects in conjunction with
24 Seven, 186K, Transco, East Midlands Electricity, Colt
Telecom, Torch Telecom to name but a few. We also supply
this service in digital format for some of our clients by
e-mail or compact disk dependent on the client's computer
and internet capabilities.

Network design
Select have assisted companies such as 24 Seven, Transport
for London and Nacap Netherlands in the design of their
networks. We usually prove the route as we design it with
desktop utility surveys, used closely in conjunction with
site surveys. Obviously, with the statutory retrieval and
utility location techniques that we can perform in-house,
we can design and prove a route with more accuracy and speed
than any other company. This style of network design has
rarely been implemented in the industry. We are sure that
our clients will be very happy to agree with its effectiveness.

Desktop utility surveys
As mentioned
in network design, desktop surveys are a service that we
are completely equipped to deal with . We have excellent
access to utility drawings and employees who have designed
various routes. Our main planner has extensive experience
in the planning of all utility routes.

Digital Archiving/ digital re-production
With the ever-growing costs of storage/archiving space,
Select can offer the service or digital archiving, which
totally eliminates your paper storage. We can index and
create search fields for all of your documentation, whatever
format and size, from A0 plans to site photographs and letters.
We can store all on your server or on compact disk. We have
supplied this service, on several occasions, for contractors
working for Transco, who required copies of their files
to be available for fellow Transco representatives. This
is also a great system for storing your important confidential
company information. We usually capture the documentation
in PDF format for ease of use. This allows our clients to
re-print the information from a variety of complimentary
computer packages, at their convenience.

Select Interactive Utility Mapping
A system developed by the management of Select with a computer
programming company, who in turn are responsible for the
development of various mapping software applications for
Ordnance Survey and 24 Seven. This copy-written process
allows a route to be indicated with all of the associated
utility drawings to be digitally attached to the route map.
Searches on the route can be made by individual road name
or, in fact, by clicking on a specific road or part of road
on the front-page map. Our clients, who have used this service,
have been completely amazed by its ease of use, effectiveness
and presentation; This is really the ultimate technology
in provision of statutory undertakers' plans.

Noticing
Select have experienced noticing personnel to completely
manage your noticing process. We find that the best method
is to use the current noticing system, utilised by the client
for your auditing purposes. If you feel that your current
package is not suitable we are willing either to explore
the possibilities of off-the-shelf software, or look at
the possibilities of custom made software, on your behalf,
if you so wish.
All noticing relies on the site management relaying information
back to the noticing department. This is emphasised within
section 74, providing good communication between the two
parties is maintained, we can virtually eliminate unnecessary
costs being incurred by our clients from the notices and
fines introduced in the second edition of the Code of Practice.
Whilst section 74 is part of the NRSWA, when its enforcement
was revisited and introduction imminent, all of Select's
management took part in a specific Section 74 course and
were certificated accordingly.
